Your adventure thus far at REW?

A lot has changed both at REW and in the real estate market broadly during my time here, but the one constant is that the people at REW are awesome!

But what I actually do is

On the data platform, our primary responsibility is making sure there are listings on the website. We collect data from a bunch of disparate sources and clean it up and harmonize it, and build most of the cloud infrastructure that enables all that. We're constantly making improvements—somtimes incremental, sometimes drastic—in all parts of the data pipeline, and cleaning up and simplifying old processes to keep the data flowing.

Biggest real estate adventure?

Three years ago I wrote "Perhaps one day I will win the lottery" in this space. I'm a little more optimistic than that now, and maybe sometime in the next 5 years buying a home in Vancouver will make some amount of financial sense, but for now I'm happy in my purpose-built rental building.

Biggest adventure, period?

In 2017 I packed my life into 3 suitcases and moved across the country to Vancouver without a job lined up. Almost a decade later I can definitively say this was a very good move! Unfortunately I have accumulated more than 3 suitcases of stuff since then.
